February Update: Letter from the CEO

February 5, 2020

Dear MD Coder Users,

Happy New Year! We have a busy year ahead of us here at MD Coder, and I wanted to share with you what we’ve been doing and what we have planned.  I know these letters break all the rules of sending short and concise communication, but this is the annual update. If you could kindly spend 2 minutes to read it in its entirety, that would be greatly appreciated.

MD Coder Pro

This past fall, I mentioned that our new application, MD Coder Pro, was in the beta stage of development. MD Coder Pro has been designed to help our user base save even more time when capturing their charges. On the Web Portal backend, we’ve started to enhance the usability of the system, which will lead to a new design released later this year. On the handheld side, we have simplified a few items:

  • The charge entry screen used to have multiple capture options to choose from; we have merged those into one.  From one screen, you’ll be able to search, add charges, add modifiers, and clone your charges. On the same screen, you’ll see your charges, notes, and MIPS measures.
  • During charge entry, we have added a universal search bar, and, by default, we will now enable our IMOTM across the entire ICD10 platform.

We have a whole host of new features coming to Pro as well from an increased AI network to identify missing charges: MD Coder Insights, which we believe is the most comprehensive analytics dashboard that you will find in the market, and a lot of other exciting features from enhanced voice notes and increased photo capabilities including text recognition.

We think you’ll love the new version, BUT we also know that change can be difficult.  We will allow you to upgrade to MD Coder Pro when you are ready voluntarily. We will make MD Coder Pro available to the general public on April 1st.  If you are interested in an early release, please let me know, and we will add you to the list.

MD Coder Interfaces

Last year we had a tremendous year of integration. We are now integrated with over 25 EHR systems and now integrated into hundreds of hospital systems around the country. There is a tremendous amount of data that is flowing directly into your HER/PM system at the office.  We have also added more billing options to our interfaces.  Historically, we have charged a one-time interface fee to our customers.  To minimize the upfront capital cost to our existing and new clients, you can now opt for a monthly fee.  If you are interested in having us pull your rounding list from the hospital or push all your charges seamlessly into your EHR, please contact us.  We have several ROI studies also available and the numbers are staggering when it comes to the return on investment for this.

MD Coder Insights

We have a new product which we have referenced in the past, called MD Coder Insights. This is an analytics component of MD Coder that will give you a complete deep dive into your practice and revenue cycle management. You will be able to find trends in your practice overview dashboards and drill-down to the physician/coder level to discover the cause. It will also allow you to do a deep dive across the financial component of your practice. You will be able to send automatic emails with the data you want to see, and the dashboards will be accessible on the web portal, mobile application, or as a standalone application.  On top of out-of-the-box functionality, we can create additional dashboards for you upon request.  Each element on the Insights platforms will be able to automate triggers and notifications as well.  If you want to be notified when your group has submitted 18,500 charges for the month, for example, you can set that up. You will also be able to look at trending data to help forecast the revenue cycle of the future.  If you would like to sign up and have MD Coder Insights implemented for your group, please click here.

MD Coder Legal

This one will be quick. We have an updated master service agreement, which we will be sending out over the next few weeks.  An updated support agreement as well.  For those with interfaces, an updated BAA.  Also, we are discontinuing the various license types, e.g., APN, Mid-Level and Resident.  Jack Lypka, our controller, will be working with you to update the MSAs, support docs, and license types over the next few months.

As the year progresses, I will continue to share information with you about how to get the most out of MD Coder. We will be sending monthly tips, and we will have more prominent releases to the system.  We are encouraged by what we have in store for our clients; I should say that we are very excited to continue to lead the marketplace with Charge Capture.  Our new Analytics piece is amazing, and our enhancements from scheduling to messaging to insights to charge capture will become so comprehensive that we could potentially have something very big and very new in the not so distant future……. Stay tuned!!!

Warmest regards to you all,

Damon
